July 2-9
We stayed in Buffalo, in our not so nice Airbnb, for ten days, running last-minute errands and trying to visit with as many friends as possible before it was time to leave. That too was tiring, but I didn’t want to miss seeing anyone! Thanks to those of you who cooked us dinner! Those meals were amazing and very much appreciated. I hadn’t cooked anything for at least two months, and we had forgotten what home-cooking tasted like! Spending time with so many of you was such a great send-off! I look forward to staying in touch and hopefully seeing lots of you when we pass through Buffalo in the future.
Over these ten days, we both realized that more paring down was necessary, and we made two more trips with stuff to storage. I really felt like I was traveling with the bare minimum at that point. (Jim still thinks we have too much!).
We spent our last night at Pautlers https://www.pautlersdriveinofclarence.com having burgers and custard and visiting with our close friends from our couples’ card group. There were hugs all around, as some of us struggled to hold back tears. Jim and I will be returning in two months for some doctors’ appointments. But it was still quite hard to say goodbye.
Before we left town, we had to visit the storage unit one more time to lighten the load a bit more. At this point, I had put several things that I was really hoping to bring for my next year adventure. We will buy the things we truly need as we go. Hopefully not many things because we really don’t have room! We are finally on our way to our new adventures!!!!
